„Henne und Hahn” (hen and rooster) is a pottery design that tells a wonderful success story of a small Black Forest business. It was in 1794 when Josef Anton Burger founded “Zeller Keramik” in Zell am Hamersbach in the middle of the Black Forest, the first German manufactory that produced crockery of the same high quality as its French and English rivals. Since 1897, “Hen and Rooster” have put smiles on German faces at their breakfast tables with their unique charm. Still today, the crockery is cast by hand and also the hen and the rooster are expertly hand-painted by the steady hands of the expert workers in Zell am Hamersbach. “Henne und Hahn” is a piece of German craftsmanship that will never cease to delight you.
