Porcelain dolls are not for playing, but they are a traditional gift from Germany that will grace everybody’s home. This Porcelain Doll Black Forest Boy measures 30 cm/11,8 inches. While the doll’s head and limbs are made of porcelain, the body is soft and stuffed. Our porcelain doll’s handmade clothing is made from fabric used for real traditional costumes. He comes with a stable metal stand to keep him standing upright on your mantelpiece.
Porcelain Doll Black Forest Traditional Costume
Our Porcelain Doll Black Forest Boy proudly wears the traditional costume of Gutach, one of the villages where the iconic “Bollenhut” hat is worn by the ladies, a straw hat with no less than 11 woollen balls (“Bollen”) assembled on top of it. The men, however, have a much simpler yet quite elegant costume: they wear black trousers and a long black coat with red trimmings over a white shirt. The outfit is completed by a modest black hat. While the ladies’ Bollenhut shows a woman’s marital status, the men always wear the same hat and suit, no matter whether they are married or not. Our Black Forest boy might be a clock peddler because he proudly carries the most famous item from the Black Forest: a cuckoo clock. A porcelain doll that will always charm you. Also check out his mate, our “Bollenhut” girl!
