Our Porcelain Doll Black Forest Girl measures 30 cm/11,8 inches. While the doll’s head and limbs are made of porcelain, the body is soft and stuffed. Our porcelain doll’s handmade clothing is made from fabric used for real traditional costumes. She comes with a stable metal stand to keep her standing upright on your mantelpiece.
Porcelain Doll Black Forest Traditional Costume
Most people associate the Black the so-called “Bollenhut”, a straw hat with no less than 11 woollen balls (“Bollen”) assembled on top of it. Although this hat has become quite a symbol for the whole Black Forest, it was originally made and worn only in three little villages, Gutach, Kirnbach and Reichenbach. But the Black Forest is a huge area and different areas have developed different costumes. Our lady is from Lenzkirch, a village close to the picturesque Lake Titisee. She wears a long black pleated skirt with a tight bodice and a white blouse with puff sleeves. The colored bodice and the bows at the cleavage are typical for the Lenzkirch area. Her bonnet is a modest and black, but her colorful and embroidered apron adds some rich elegance to her dress. Only Schneider produces porcelain dolls that show such a variety of details in German traditional costumes.
